‘For all the Palestinian fathers who have lost their children at the hands of the zionist and amerikkkan settler states’
The University of California Berkeley was subjected to a third potential terrorist act in the last two weeks, and anti-Israel radicals have claimed responsibility for all three.
The first incident, a “firebombing” of a campus police vehicle on June 2, was referenced on social media by “multiple groups” according to The Daily Californian.
The groups claimed the destruction “was done in retaliation against UCPD for their attack on students…on a different campus” — likely UCLA and UC Santa Cruz.
According to a post at Indybay.org, a week and a half later an incendiary device “was unloaded” at a UC Berkeley building (ID’d by the Daily Californian as Koshland Hall), the fire of which “spread across trees and bushes” on one side of the edifice.
“NOT SURE WHAT BUILDING IT EVEN WAS,” the post by “student intifada” read. “HONESTLY DONT [sic] REALLY CARE. EVERY SINGLE BUILDING ON THE UC BERKELEY CAMPUS DESERVES TO BE INCINERATED FOLLOWING THE UC SYSTEM’S TREATMENT OF STUDENT PROTESTORS.”
The message concludes by saying the UC system “must divest from Israel or face our wrath of revenge.”
Most recently on June 16, campus police responded to a fire at the Dwinelle Annex construction site where new campus housing is being built. However, activists have opposed the project on the “People’s Park” as it has “displaced” myriad homeless individuals.

In a separate post at Indybay.org, “marilyn’s daughters” wrote the fire “was done in retaliation for u.c.pd’s violent assaults on vulnerable student demonstrators and to punish the university of kkkalifornia system for supporting the genocidal zionist-Israel entity.”
this was done as an autonomous (self-directed act) in concert with anyone who shows out to create liberatoratory _destruction_ until the u.c. system completely divests from the genocidal “israeli” settler nation-building project

This most recent Indybay post claims all three incidents, as well as two others, all are part of “Operation Campus Flood.”
UPDATE: The San Francisco Standard reports that as of Monday, law enforcement took 34-year-old Northwestern University PhD student Casey Goonan into custody on suspicion of committing all three arson attacks. Goonan lives with his parents in a $1.1 million home, is studying African American studies and “considers himself a scholar-activist.”
In articles posted online, Goonan called the U.S. a “’god-awful fascist hell hole’ where social injustices are ‘concealed under the blinders of white supremacist American reason.’” Goonan’s attorney, already defending him on a vandalism charge in San Francisco, claimed the investigation into his client is “political” and vowed to “aggressively fight” any charges that may be brought.
Goonan’s bail is set at $1 million.
