U. of Minnesota’s athletics director resigns rather than face sexual-harassment investigation

A first-time alleged sexual harasser is resigning his post.

University of Minnesota Athletics Director Norwood Teague otherwise would have face a school investigation over allegations of “unwelcome sexual advances and verbal and physical conduct” while drunk against two non-student employees, President Eric Kaler told a press conference last week, Minnesota Daily reported:

Teague will not get a severance package beyond three months of health insurance coverage, but the University could still hire him as a consultant while the athletic department transitions. He would be paid his current hourly wage of $285 an hour, according to a letter Kaler sent to Teague on Thursday.

Teague “repeatedly sent explicit text messages to one woman” and refused to stop when she asked him to, and “pinched her waist and buttocks repeatedly,” that woman claimed, while another woman accused Teague of “acting inappropriately when he rubbed her back and poked her side,” the paper reported:

Kaler declined to elaborate on the nature of the event, when it occurred and whether it was a University-sponsored event.

It’s not clear whether Teague’s text messages still exist. The Daily only cites “University documents” and “partially redacted documents” that the school gave the media.
