Sometimes you read a story and you wonder if there’s any hope for our public education system.
This is one of those times.
SPRING LAKE, N.C. (AP) — A Harnett County teacher has been fired after school officials said she allowed biology students
to prick themselves with lancing needles as part of an experiment and reusing the needles with other students.
Officials said Miyoshi McMillan of Overhills High School
School spokeswoman Patrician Harmon-Lewis says McMillian used a lab kit that included synthetic blood and seven lancets used to obtain drops of blood for testing…
I mean–sharing needles? Really?
In this day and age, with all we know about blood-borne diseases, it is hard to believe any teacher would be so ignorant or careless.
Stories like this are enough to drive a parent to home schooling…
