In news that will surprise no one, a former dean of Purdue is so angry Mitch Daniels was chosen to be the next president of the university that she has altered her will. Purdue will no longer receive a $1 million donation from her, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education:
Marilyn Haring served as dean of the university’s college of education from 1991 to 2001, and said she was bothered by Mr. Daniels’s lack of academic credentials and policy decisions regarding labor and education spending. In an e-mail to the university’s Board of Trustees, she called his recent appointment “a travesty and insult to academics.” The board’s chairman told the newspaper he expected increased donations to outpace any losses related to Mr. Daniels’s appointment.
