Caused ‘fear’ among many ‘already feeling deeply vulnerable’
This past week, Harvard Law School officials removed a pair stickers adhered to a pole near the campus’ main plaza which “threatened” the deportation of pro-Hamas students.
The first sticker read “Don’t be Mahmood [sic] Khalil,” a reference to the Columbia University grad student recently detained by ICE for, The Crimson claims, “serving as a negotiator on behalf of participants in Columbia’s pro-Palestine encampment.”
The sticker also included “Be a racist if you want, Just keep it to yourself #JFB (Jews fight back).”
The group Dissent Collective snapped a photo (pictured) of the sticker, which by that time had the phrase “Free Palestine” scrawled into it. A second sticker reading “I am a green card holder who loves America. I will never be deported. Are You?” soon was placed over the original.
HLS representatives said the stickers were removed as they were “in violation of campus policies.” The removal was condemned by the “far-right” Zionist group Betar US, which took responsibility for the signs.
In a statement, HLS said the stickers “appear to be aimed at causing distress and fear among members of our community, many of whom are already feeling deeply vulnerable.” It added the school is “committed” to free expression, but condemned the signs “and other acts that aim to intimidate and sow discord.”
Several students told The Crimson they felt “distressed” by the stickers. Law student Allie Ryave, past president of a Jewish “pro-Palestine” organization, said she felt Harvard “should have taken a stronger stance against the stickers.”

Meanwhile, over at the University of Chicago, a sign reading “Deport Israelis” was photographed hanging outside of a campus classroom (below). Thus far, the student paper The Chicago Maroon has not reported on the placard.
Over at the University of Oklahoma, signs advertising an upcoming appearance by Riley Gaines were vandalized with the words “Nazi Grift” and “BOO,” according to the OU Daily. An OU Turning Point USA representative added that on Thursday an angry student had begun “kicking down yard signs” in front of the group’s booth, and when confronted pushed the rep and “grabbed his phone.”
And at Yale this past week, posters advertising the debate “Should the Law Only Recognize Biological Sex?” were “vandalized and destroyed” by student activists. The protesters put up their own “mock” flyers which read “Come get your genitals inspected” and “Did you enjoy this debate? Join us next week for our debate on: Should homosexuals exist, or must they perish.”
One of debaters, Ethics and Public Policy Center President Ryan Anderson, wasn’t much bothered by the vandalism but said it shows that Yale’s Buckley Institute (host of the debate) is “more needed than ever.”
