Here we go again: A female college student on her way home via the New York City subway claims she was assaulted by a group of white men yelling “Donald Trump!”
According to The New York Daily News, Baruch College’s Yasmin Seweid says she was going home from an event at the school when “three drunk white men” began hollering at her upon her entering the train:
“I heard them say something very loudly, something about Donald Trump … I also heard them say the word terrorist and I sort of got a little scared,” Seweid said.
“Get the hell out of the country!” the men yelled during the ride. “You don’t belong here!”
After a brief back and forth in which Seweid responded she was born here in the US and asked the men to leave her alone, the college student claims the trio then attempted to tear off her hijab.
Seweid got off the train at Grand Central Terminal on E. 42nd St. and reported the terrifying incident to police.
Her father, Sayeed Seweid, 55, of New Hyde Park, L.I., said he was also angry that no one else stepped in to defend his daughter.
“Nobody even offered to help an 18-year-old girl,” he said. “That means something. Her phone was dying. You offer help — it doesn’t matter the race, religion, or the country.”

After filing a police report, shaking and crying, Seweid made her way to Penn Station where she called her father after finding an electrical outlet to charge her phone, her father said. She was not injured.
He came and picked her up and they chatted with police into the early morning hours before driving home.
On Friday, Seweid sat with police officers and tried to help spot the men on surveillance video, her father said. No one has been arrested.
The allegations made by Seweid are remarkably akin to those made by others across the country, post-election — incidents which either turned out to be phony or quite inconclusive.
A student from Villanova inexplicably dropped charges against a group of white men who (allegedly) knocked her over while — yep — shouting the name of the president-elect.
The University of Michigan played host to two similar “incidents,” both of which featured women being yelled at to “go home” and being knocked over. An allegation by a Georgetown student was strangely alike.
Instead of being knocked down, a Bowling Green student had claimed pro-Trump white dudes threw rocks at her.
But, perhaps most similar to Ms. Seweid’s allegations were the ersatz claims made by a University of Louisiana Lafayette student who said “two white males, one in a Trump hat” stole her wallet and ripped off her hijab.
Maybe this latest episode will prove truthful. But considering surveillance video appears to show naught, and the fact that — curiously — Seweid’s phone happened to be dead at the time, not to mention not a single witness stepped forward … I wouldn’t count on it.
And worse, outlets like The Daily News continue to use these stories to make the case that there’s a “hate” trend. For instance, The DN writes “Cops said that from Nov. 8 through Nov. 27, there were 34 reported incidents compared to 13 in the same period in 2015.”
Key word: “Reported.”
