UCLA prof blasts new rule that he must report ‘possible’ sexual harassment to ‘Title IX cops’

UCLA Law Prof. Stephen Bainbridge is making a stink about a new policy that requires all faculty to report “possible” sexual harassment to officials he derisively labels “Title IX cops.”

In a blog post earlier this week, Bainbridge excerpted an email from Chancellor Gene Block explaining the new reporting regime for “sexual harassment and sexual violence.”

Bainbridge said it “offends the very substantial reasons that Anglo-American law has generally refused to imposed mandatory Good Samaritan rules,” and ignores even informing the alleged victim that the professor is required to report.

And then there’s the total lack of explanation what “possible” means:

I have been unable to find a definition of “possible” in the new policy. I assume possible means something less than “more likely than not,” but how much less? How do I know when I am supposed to report?
