Update on this story: The woman who was mistakenly kissed by an autistic student at Navarro College has come forward to say she’s horrified the school kicked him out for the incident.
The good news is that 20-year-old Brian Ferguson has been allowed back into his special-needs classes at Navarro, NBC 5 DFW reports:
“I didn’t want him to get in trouble, special needs or not,” said Taylor Bruton. “I didn’t want anyone to get in trouble, not over a hug [and a ‘peck’ on the head].” …
She says some teachers noticed she was a little startled.
“They asked me about the incident,” she said Wednesday. “I explained what happened and I told them, ‘It’s not a big deal. I don’t want anyone to get in trouble and I don’t feel the need to report this.’ And they asked me for a written statement, just in case.”
Bruton said she was “so mad” when she learned Ferguson had been kicked out, and even met with him again and gave him a hug.
Navarro continues to pass the buck, saying the school district runs the special-needs program and made the call regarding Ferguson.
