Dennis Prager attacked for criticizing campus rape culture hysteria

The following 192 words were uttered by conservative pundit Dennis Prager during a 25-minute speech last week at a Republican Party rally in Florida. Prager’s talk focused on the divisions Democrats promulgate, and he noted that:

On issue after issue, these are manufactured divisions: the black–white division, the male–female division, and the old–young division. These are all manufactured. There is no “war on women.” It’s absurd. It is just an absurdity. It is a lie. It’s a gargantuan lie to get votes. It’s as big a lie as “culture of rape” on your campuses. What nonsense. There is a “culture of rape” on campuses run by the feminist Left? Why are you trying to sell me this nonsense? dennisprager

One in five women are sexually assaulted on campuses? You know what sexual assault means? Did you ever look at what counts? An “unwanted kiss” is considered sexual assault. I’m stunned it’s only one in five. Four out of five women have not gotten an unwanted kiss? My wife gets unwanted kisses every so often!

They make light of rape because they redefine these terms. We don’t make light of it. We think it’s the worst thing possible short of murder. But they make light of it by trivializing it. “Culture of rape”? No, I’ll tell you what exists on the campus, and that is a rape of the culture.

And as Prager points out on National Review, it was those two minutes of a 25-minute speech that drew national attention from the left.

The Huffington Post headlined their piece “Conservative Pundit Dennis Prager Says College Sexual Assaults Are Lies To Get Votes.” … The headline at the feminist website Wonkette read: “Conservative Nutjob Dennis Prager Sexually Assaults His Wife, So What’s The Big Deal?” …

Here is the subheadline on Salon, one the biggest of the left-wing websites: “Talk radio host Dennis Prager told a crowd of Florida Republicans that sexual assault is just ‘unwanted kisses.’”

First off, the left does not get Prager’s humor. Secondly, it cannot stand it when its narrative is questioned and called out as a farce, and all too often it resorts to ad hominem attacks in response. Finally, Prager is 100 percent correct.

Rape and sexual assault, as they should be understood and defined, are something far more evil and horrific than a guy not asking if he can touch your boob during a hot-and-heavy make-out session. But that’s how the terms are defined under these absurd “yes means yes” campus policies.

I stand with Prager, but unfortunately, the head of the Sarasota Republican party did not. He “sided with the hysterical reactions and dissociated the Republican party from my remarks,” Prager notes.

“The hysterics of the Left regularly lead to Republican surrender,” Prager added. “He should have said something like, ‘What exactly did Prager say that was wrong? The Democratic party owes women and America an apology for trivializing rape, for libeling our universities, and for dividing Americans by gender. Sexual assault matters a great deal. And so does truth.’ ”

Until campuses stop trivializing rape, the so-called campus rape culture will not improve, and will continue to get worse.
