Butt plugs, vibrators and bondage gadgets were handed out Thursday night at a student-fee funded University of New Hampshire workshop called Orchestrating Orgasms.
The evening kicked off with a video of two turtles having sex, followed by a discussion on orgasms, a clitoris demonstration with a vulva puppet, audience-wide Kegel exercises, and sex toy how-to displays, reports The New Hampshire student newspaper.
“People who participated received vibrators, restraint systems, butt-plugs and other assorted sexual toys,” the newspaper reports.
An estimated 500 students attended the workshop, hosted by the Memorial Union Student Organization. The keynote speaker was Megan Andelloux, also known as the “SexEd Warrior Queen” who travels the nation teaching college kids how to come through her “Study Sex College Tour,” according to her website, www.ohmegan.com, which notes she launched her career as a Planned Parenthood educator before she joined a “feminist-run sex toy shop providing sexuality education for the local community.”
“Crystal Delights – a manufacturer of erotic toys – has been one of the sponsors of Andelloux’s events for three years,” reports The New Hampshire student newspaper.
Some conservative groups, such as Cornerstone Action and Americans for Prosperity N.H, are angry student fees were used to fund the event.
Erika Mantz, director of University of New Hampshire’s media relations division, had this to say to The College Fix on the appropriateness of handing out butt plugs and restraint systems to students.
“The lecture is just one event in a month of programming for students around healthy, safe and respectful decision making related to sex,” Mantz said in an email. “Many offices and organizations around campus played a role in developing the programming. The health and well-being of our students and the greater campus community is important to university leaders and that includes their sexual health.”
Andelloux has presented at dozens of public and private colleges in recent years.
