Is Elizabeth Warren Really a Cherokee?

Elizabeth Warren, liberal hero and self-appointed messiah for the 99%, is doing some serious damage control today. Currently running as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, the Harvard professor apparently claimed for years to be Native American. Those claims have now come under serious scrutiny.

Allegedly, she used her supposed minority status to advance her career in academia for more than a decade. In her current job as a Harvard professor, Warren (herself a member of the 1%) reportedly makes more than $400,000 per year.

So what about all those claims to minority status?

Turns out you have to go back FIVE GENERATIONS to find even the thinnest Native American connection. Her great, great, great grandmother was, the campaign claims, a member of the Cherokee tribe. If such a flimsy connection is enough to claim minority status in this county, then we might as well say that the majority Americans are Native American “minorities.”

With these distortions, Elizabeth Warren has proved to voters that all she has really ever cared about is advancing her own career.

“She would be 1⁄32nd of Elizabeth Warren’s total ancestry,” noted genealogist Christopher Child said, referring to the candidate’s great-great-great-grandmother, O.C. Sarah Smith, who is listed on an Oklahoma marriage certificate as Cherokee. Smith is an ancestor on Warren’s mother’s side, Child said.

The missing link comes after Warren’s embattled campaign faced sharp questions about her Native American background in the wake of Herald stories that showed both Harvard Law School and Warren herself had touted her tribal lineage and claimed she was a member of a minority for years.

Warren’s shaken campaign faced another crisis yesterday when it was revealed that beginning in 1986 and continuing through 1995, Warren had listed herself as a minority professor in the Association of American Law Schools desk book, a directory of law professors from participating schools…

How many legitimate minority candidates do you suppose got passed over for a six-figure teaching job at Harvard when they hired Elizabeth Warren instead? This hypocrisy comes from a woman who has built her political career posing as a hero for the poor, the downtrodden, and the disenfranchised.

No wonder she’s always talking about how the rich get ahead by cheating the poor. She’s a living example of that concept.

What a phony.
