POLL: Most Americans Against Race-Based College Admissions

Gallup has a new poll out which found that “two-thirds of Americans believe college applicants should be admitted solely based on merit, even if that results in few minorities being admitted.”

Specifically, 67 percent of those polled rejected the notion of race-based affirmative action policies, according to the survey.

“Americans seem reluctant to endorse such a practice, and even blacks, who have historically been helped by such programs, are divided on the matter,” Gallup reported.
