The College Fix presents a roundup of the top scandals, screw-ups, and stupid decisions involving college campuses this week. This week, political bias among academia is quantifiably exposed …
3) So The Hill probes the political contributions of professors quoted in the media about the Obama administration, and this week the Washington D.C. publication reported its findings – that at least a half-dozen college educators who have opined about the president and his policies to reporters failed to mention they also *contributed* to Obama.
The article goes on to quote Poynter media ethics expert Kelly McBride about it, and her take is pretty telling:
“McBride said she is not stunned by The Hill’s findings, remarking that the academic world has a liberal bent: ‘I’m surprised you didn’t find more.’ ”
The Hill probably could have, actually, if political donations of less than $200 were public record. (Typically they’re not).

2) In stark contrast to the situation uncovered by The Hill, Dr. Angela McCaskill was suspended recently from her post as chief diversity officer at Gallaudet University for signing a Maryland ballot initiative that could lead to the overturning of that state’s same-sex marriage law. Not a measure in support of banning same-sex marriage, an initiative that simply gives Maryland voters a right to weigh in on the issue.
These two examples, put side by side, show how educators are allowed to exercise political beliefs – so long as they are on the right side of the spectrum, that is – the left side.
1) And finally: “RAPE, RAPE, RAPE, its (sic) college boys live it up!!” is the tagline on a flier posted recently in a men’s bathroom at a co-ed dorm at Miami University in Ohio.
Some of the advice doled out therein?
“Practice makes perfect,” “never take pictures with or give your number to the girl you rape,” “if you are afraid the girl will identify you, you slit her throat,” and “sex with an unconscious body does count, so don’t back down if she is sleeping.”
As if the flier wasn’t bad enough, the incident occurred on a campus where at least 27 sexual assaults have been reported since 2009, according to the school’s Women Against Violence and Sexual Assault student group.
