The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that the state Board of Regents has canceled scheduled pay increases for presidents of Utah’s public universities. While most presidents had already decided to donate their salary increases to university general funds and academic programs, Gov. Gary Herbert asked the board to rescind the raises entirely last week. His wish was granted during a meeting of the board earlier today. From the regents’ statement:
“We share the Governor’s confidence that, with all interested parties working together, we can establish a compensation policy that will keep Utah competitive in recruiting and retaining outstanding college and university presidents.”
