ABC News has released a new image it says depicts the back of George Zimmerman’s head on the day he shot Trayvon Martin. In the photo Zimmerman is bleeding with several cuts and contusions.

Prosecutors have charged Zimmerman with second degree murder.

Zimmerman and his lawyers claim that the shooting was self-defense and that Martin had attacked Zimmerman and slammed his head into the pavement, and that Zimmerman’s life was in danger.

This photo will undoubtedly bolster the defense’s case, as they seek cast doubt on the prosecution’s charge.

While the details of what happened that day remain in dispute, at the very least, the newly released photo seems to prove that there was indeed some kind of violent physical confrontation between Martin and Zimmerman prior to the shooting.
