It pays to know people at the top. Just ask a former classmate of the first lady who is an executive at the company that received a government contract totaling hundreds of millions of dollars while the government–for unknown reasons–refused to consider any competitive bids.
Patrick Howley reports for The Daily Caller:
Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company.
Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni…
And the curious connections don’t end there. According to The Caller:
George Schindler, the president for U.S. and Canada of the Canadian-based CGI Group, CGI Federal’s parent company, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract…
The Healthcare.gov website ended up costing an estimated $678 million. Weeks after launch, the website is a complete disaster and is largely non-functional.
Howley also reports that while four companies submitted bids for the Healthcare.gov contract, only one company–CGI–was considered. The others were rejected without consideration.
Makes you wonder why, doesn’t it?
