Marine Veteran Has Stand-Out Debut for MTSU Football Team

Sgt. Steven Rhodes, the Marine veteran who attracted nationwide attention this month when the NCAA ruled him ineligible to play college football, had a stand-out defensive performance in his first game as a Middle Tennessee State Blue Raider.

Rhodes recorded four tackles and half a sack in his first game since high school, and following a 5-year career in the Marine Corps.

In the face of widespread criticism, the NCAA reversed its initial ruling, and ultimately declared Rhodes eligible to play, as The College Fix reported earlier this week.

Rhodes won a spot on the team as a walk-on, and now the 6-3, 240 pound defensive end has left no doubt that he has what it takes to play at the Division I level.

America’s enemies once had to fear Sgt. Rhodes. Now it looks like opposing quarterbacks will have to do the same.
