During a talk at Yale this week, best-selling author and New Yorker contributor Malcolm Gladwell had some surprising advice for aspiring young journalists: Avoid working for newspapers.
“Newspapers are kind of dreary, depressed places,” he said. “I would go the penniless Web route to get practice. You can enter the mainstream so much quicker there.”
