Everyone has the right to DREAM — especially one particular group. They come from a land historically plagued by backwards governments, large-scale political corruption and oppressive economic conditions. There is little reason why they should not be given the chance to receive a chance to succeed by granting them in state tuition despite their legal status. These people also deserve special citizenship rights if we can ever expect them to become full members of our society.
The folks I am talking about, are, of course, citizens of New Jersey.
Until recently, the Garden State has traditionally been a banana republic of courts that thousands upon thousands have escaped and migrated to other parts of the United States. Half of the state’s current residents want to leave. They want a better life for their families. The parents have suffered enough, between the high taxes and crooked government officials. We see more evidence every day of how the children suffer in New Jersey’s schools. We cannot be so cold and not let them have the DREAM.
A step in the right direction would be to allow New Jersey children to attend institutions of higher education in other states at the same cost as it would be for in-state residents. This will bring unique diversity to colleges and universities throughout our nation.
It should not matter if the students or their parents are guilty of a federal crime, or any other crimes for that matter.
So many of there are already leaving their homeland to attend college, so why not just make it easier on them?
There must also be a path to a special citizenship status so that New Jersey immigrants can be at an advantage over other residents who have gone through the regular process of obtaining in-state tuition and other resident benefits.
We must stand up for New Jersey’s DREAMers!
