Lie on your kid’s college application and you could be charged with a felony like this guy

Virginia is for lovers, but Georgia is for liars, or something.

A Virginia resident has been charged with a felony on allegations that he illegally obtained in-state tuition for his daughter at the University of Georgia, The Red & Black reports:

An anonymous complaint led police to investigate falsified documents that claimed [Pierre] Mortemousque, of Lynchburg, Virginia, was a resident of Georgia, according to a University police report. Police had noticed that the father had another child who was eligible for in-state tuition in Virginia, leading to questions regarding residency. …

On application documents, Mortemousque listed the address of an apartment in Atlanta where, according to police, electronic access and water usage showed he stayed for only 90 days of his 400-day rent.

His daughter has since left the university and won’t be charged, and Mortemousque has since paid back the $37,000 he saved by getting in-state tuition.
