Introducing The College Fix’s ‘Restore the Media’ video series

The College Fix today launched its “Restore the Media” video series to inspire and recruit young freedom-minded journalists and address and correct the lopsided left-leaning bias in the media.

Motivated by the knowledge that journalism represents the vital Fourth Estate that holds powerful institutions accountable, the mini-documentaries serve as an innovative tool to reach young people where they’re at and help ensure conservatives do not cede the vital media battleground to the progressive left.

Today the first two episodes in the six-part series were released: “The Case for Journalism” and “Is Journalism the Most Interesting Profession?”

The series features insights from Tim Carney of the Washington Examiner, Miranda Devine of the New York Post, Brit Hume of Fox News, Mary Margaret Olohan of the Daily Wire, James Rosen of Newsmax, Robby Soave of Reason, Deroy Murdock of National Review, Charles Gasparino of Fox Business, Virginia Allen of the Daily Signal, as well as Tucker Carlson and John Stossel.

“Being a journalist is fun, exciting, interesting — it brings a new challenge everyday,” said Jennifer Kabbany, editor-in-chief of The College Fix. “Hearing that from legends like Brit Hume and Tucker Carlson carries some gravitas. I hope these videos inspire the next generation of liberty-minded investigative reporters.”

The series delves into why an honest, courageous and unbiased media is indispensable to a free society. In future weeks, video topics include the role of the free press, the media’s liberal tendencies, a look at whether objective journalism is possible, and advice to young journalists.

The series will also include the release of the full interviews with Hume, Carlson, Stossel and others. Each week a new video will debut through May 1.

The College Fix also interviewed several prominent alumni of the Student Free Press Association’s journalism fellowship program, who spoke on their accomplishments and of their appreciation of the program that helped launch their careers.

The video series was primarily funded by a Heritage Foundation Innovation Prize.
