The Los Angeles Unified School District is planning to spend $1 billion to buy an iPad for every student.
Incidentally, this kind of mismanagement may explain why LA has the worst low-literacy rate of any major U.S. city. According to a 2004 study, more than half of the city’s residents have trouble simply reading a street sign.
Our advice: Teach the kids to read. Forget about buying them $678 iPads.
