On Jan. 10, The College Fix predicted a T-Shirt celebrating Florida State University Seminoles’ recent BCS National Championship with the words “Scalp ‘Em!” on it would upset some people.
Sure enough, it has.
The Orlando Sentinel reports:
The unauthorized fan T-shirt, marketed as a “Florida State University 2013 National Champs Vintage Tee,” displays the phrase “Scalp ‘Em!” across the chest, along with pictures of a tomahawk and arrow and “2013 National Champions.”
The shirt is being sold for $28 by RowdyGentleman.com.
According to Indian Country Today, FSU began measures Jan. 10 for an emergency cease and desist of all sales of the shirt.
“We would never license that shirt,” FSU vice president for university relations Liz Maryanski told Indian County Today. “That term is extremely derogatory and it’s offensive.”
