If we’re to believe the mainstream media and progressive educators, it’s silly to think that critical race theory is being pushed on K-12 students.
Except … the anecdotes which prove otherwise just keep coming. Like this: A Minnesota elementary schooler claims her class was given an “equity survey” and then told by the teacher not to tell parents about it.
The Center Square reports fourth-grader Haylee Yasgar, a student in the Sartell-St. Stephen School District, said her class was instructed to answer every question on the survey, even if they didn’t understand what it was asking — like “what gender [they] identify with.”
“Being asked to hide this from my mom made me very uncomfortable, like I was doing something wrong,” Yasgar said.
Yasgar detailed her experience at a board meeting last week. Alphanews reports the equity survey was part of an $80,000 “racial inequities” audit conducted by the group Equity Alliance Minnesota.
EAM’s description of the audit contains the same flowery, feel-good language common in the equity and anti-racism industry:
An Equity Audit is a process that supports a district through data-informed practices to guide decision-making, implementation and action on how to develop context specific strategies to school-community concerns. It is an approach to identify systemic issues and concerns that can be addressed over time through commitment to building relationships, addressing disparities, providing support and continued focus on results through continuous improvement.

Along with surveys, the audit also makes use of “focus groups and community conversations” and “walkthroughs at the classroom, school and/or district level.” EAM claims it will work as “a neutral partner” with the district.
The Center Square asks: What value does the equity survey have if students are required to answer questions they don’t even understand? So far, the district hasn’t responded to its queries.
Yasgar’s mother told Fox News she doesn’t believe this was a case of just one teacher being shifty: “We had been informed that this came down from the administration and Equity Alliance of Minnesota instructed them to make sure the children did not share this information with their parents and that should pose a great concern in any parents’ eyes.”
