Trump picks Rep. Elise Stefanik, who led charge against rampant campus antisemitism, as UN envoy

‘Strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,’ Trump said

New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, who led the charge over the last year against rampant antisemitism on college campuses, has been selected by President-elect Donald Trump as United Nations ambassador.

The “40-year-old upstate Republican, who helped force out two Ivy League presidents with her sharp questioning on campus antisemitism, will the lead Trump’s ‘America first’ and pro-Israel message in Turtle Bay,” the New York Post reported.

“I am honored to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,” Trump, 78, said in a statement to the Post Sunday night.

Some observers argue that Stefanik’s experience confronting Ivy League presidents was likely good practice for dealing with anti-American and anti-Israel leaders at the UN.

“During a meeting of the Knesset Caucus for Jewish and Pro-Israel Students on Campuses Around the World earlier this year, she slammed US President Joe Biden’s decision to pause a shipment of thousands of bombs to Israel, warning that unless Israel is supplied with the weapons necessary to ‘achieve total victory,’ America could face its own October 7,” the Times of Israel reported.

The New York Post, which broke the news Sunday night, reported Stefanik is a:

…Harvard grad [who] worked to turn the tables on what she called the “Biden Crime Family” and has regularly appeared on TV to drive home the Republican positions on issues — setting up a likely a contrast from the outgoing UN ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who rarely courted media attention.

“I am truly honored to earn President Trump’s nomination to serve in his Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,” Stefanik said in a statement confirming her acceptance of the role.

As The College Fix previously reported, Harvard dumped Stefanik from its political science advisory board in 2021 after she claimed there was election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
