Universities love to tout diversity, but they don’t practice what they preach.
A research project recently launched by The College Fix looking up professors’ political party registrations has found Democratic professors far outnumber Republican ones.
Of the seven universities reviewed so far, 72 percent of professors with known affiliations are registered Democrats compared to only 6.7 percent registered as Republicans.
Zero Republican professors could be found across six humanities departments at the University of Oklahoma, UNC Chapel Hill, and Florida State University. At North Carolina State University, seven humanities departments have no identifiable registered Republican professor.
At the University of Florida, four humanities departments did not appear to have any Republican professors. At the University of Central Florida, three humanities departments all lacked an identifiable Republican professor. And at the University of Arizona, Republican professors could not be found in five different humanities departments.
Drilling into the numbers, the project thus far has identified 1,072 Democratic professors compared to only 100 Republican ones.
